This Is Textbook is a sourcebook for design and art collective Distrikt. The MVA Studio has had a working relationship with Distrikt founder and creative director Kelly D. Williams and we were invited to submit work to the book for both The MVA and Kimberlee Whaley Photography.

We approached The MVA section as a zine project; a collection of work, art, sketches and outtakes mixed together and using the idea of screen Post-Its as an organizing principle (amazingly enough, we would see the book Area 2 later in the year and be shocked that someone else also had such a bizarre idea). Interspersed were quotes from rap group Dipset that we find oddly inspirational. Design assistant: Esther Park

Kimberlee Whaley’s section was approached as a freeform photobook. The MVA intern Mike Burrill edited and sequenced the section with art direction from Namdev and Kimberlee.

In addition to our work, there are sections from Damion Silver, Kelly D. Williams, Alison Grippo and more. We are honored to be in such company.
